Word from Fahey..

Richard Fahey on Parbold"Parbold is a horse I love. He's a son of Dandy Man and we've been very lucky with the sire so far, we've run two and both have won. He makes his debut in the Stratford Place Stud For Royal Ascot 2YOs E.B.F. Maiden Stakes. If I had to pick out one of my nice early two-year-olds he'd be the guy."

Beauty Parlour

Beauty's class can shine through

The last three winners of the JLT Lockinge Stakes have been returned at 2/7, 4/5 and 8/11 and, while the first of those SPs may not look so bad in light of the prices available about Frankel for the remainder of his 2012 campaign, they hardly set the pulse racing for many punters.

Beauty Parlour: Can surprise the big guns in the JLT Lockinge
Beauty Parlour: Can surprise the big guns in the JLT Lockinge

Two of those runners, Cityscape and Farhh, boast the highest official ratings in the field while there's no doubting the promise of Declaration Of War, the third of the market leaders.
There appears little danger of this year's winner returning at such prohibitive odds, however, with one bookmaker even installing three 3/1 co-favourites on the opening show forSaturday's Group One contest.
Cityscape looks the most vulnerable of the trio although Declaration Of War has the most to prove while Farhh may ideally need further.
The latter was beaten by a smart French filly in Moonlight Cloud on his most recent start over a mile and another (former) French filly could be worth siding with this weekend.

Beauty Parlour was compared favourably with Zarkava by Christophe Soumillon but she lost her unbeaten record in the Prix de Diane in June and then didn't reappear until September.
That was her first start for Sir Henry Cecil and by far and away the worst performance of her short career and by no means a reflection of how good a filly she is.

Three of the last 10 Lockinges have been won by the fairer sex and it's that this daughter of the brilliant Deep Impact can follow suit on her seasonal reappearance.

Cecil is renowned for his handling of classy fillies and he can be expected to work his magic with Beauty Parlour now that he's had the time to get to know her and that she's had the time to adapt to a new training regime.
She doesn't have a great deal to find with the principals as things stand and, I believe, is open to considerable improvement in her third season racing after just half a dozen starts.
I can't resist adding Chil The Kite to the staking plan .

The promising four year old has plenty of ground to make up on the principals and has his own ideas about the game but there's no doubt that he's got the talent to make his presence felt.
Backed as though defeat was out of the question on his reappearance in the Group Two bet365 Mile at Sandown, he came up short behind Trumpet Major after hanging for most of the way up the straight.

That's far from the first time that he's displayed such a trait but conditions promise to be more to his liking at Newbury with plenty of rain forecast for the week ahead while he's entitled to come on for his return.
The money that came for him last time speaks volumes about the regard in which he's held as do his entries for this race and the Queen Anne Stakes.
Give him another chance and back him .

Cityscape

Cityscape ready to stake claim

Trainer Roger Charlton sees a chance for JLT Lockinge Stakes-bound Cityscape to establish himself as the champion miler this season.

Cityscape: Has chance to take centre stage this season
Cityscape: Has chance to take center stage this season

Although Cityscape never quite recaptured the brilliance of his Dubai Duty Free win last March, he ran several other fine races in defeat.
With Frankel and Excelebration now retired, the Khalid Abdullah-owned seven-year-old has the opportunity to play a leading role in the big events at this trip.
Charlton is happy with his progress ahead of his seasonal reappearance at Newbury on Saturday.
The Beckhampton handler said: "It is challenging training a seven-year-old entire as some can get idle and lazy at home, and he's had his difficulties and issues along the way.
"It's been well documented that it hasn't been easy this winter, but he seems to have come to hand in the last few weeks. He certainly went exceptionally well fresh last year and he's been a remarkably consistent horse.
"He's run in seven countries and run up to form in each of them, with the odd exception.
"He has been frustratingly beaten on occasions, but he's always maintained his level of form. There is chance now in the mile division.
"For obvious reasons (same ownership) we had to avoid Frankel and we wouldn't have finished within many lengths of him, so we had to travel a lot which is tough, but he always ran his race. This year he should have a clearer run at things."

And i do believe we have our first runner from MYBOYCHARLIE  today...so lets see how this fares ;)

******************
Anything else for today?..well not really as the week looks quite low key as build up towards the cracking Dante card on Thurs and a very decent weekends racing...so i will just pop bits n pieces on over the next couple o days whilst i warm towards the weekend...;)

LOTD :  DEFENDANT 1410 Doncaster @ 3.20 , this has to be laid at this or obv lower in what looks a very competitive maiden with some quality improvers and some likely unraced sorts , win or lose its one of those that has to be done ( btw i make defendant 4.2 - 4.6 for this so laying at 3.20 is a max value Lay ).

RESULT : 3rd @ 3.97 ;))

Will will see some OLYMPIC GLORY ??

 Probably not is my answer.
Although this said " if " he can truly stay the 1m trip at pace and still have enough legs to quicken and run on at the minimum then he has every chance as he certainly has the form over 7f to get into the mix and will be pushing them all the way.
It is interesting that Hughes ( stable Jockey ) has decided to ride this instead of proven stayer Havana Gold suggesting that he has been showing enough at home for them to think the trip will be no problem and he has been running on towards the end of his races ( OG ) but this is will be a far harder test than he has previously encountered on ground that is described as Heavy...personally i will be happy for the Hannon team if they can win but i think its highly unlikely in fact i will go as far to suggest that one of two things will happen ,
1. It wins easy and proves that its top class and stays  ( has won on poor ground types before ) .
2.Looks strong for 6f then gets swamped by the confirmed stayers and runs unplaced down the field in about 8th or 9th.
So a Win Back & Place Lay is a good bet imo.
Looking at the UK contingent i am fairly sure the winner will be French as they carry a strong team into this with at least five confirmed stayers with good solid winning form with the likes of Intello , Genghis , Anodin , Marandi and US Law all looking likely winners , this will be a fascinating race to watch and one for the purists , will he wont he ( OG > stay ? )...that is the question....And in the 2000 Guineas i am really kean on ESCOTERIQUE a wonderful looking daughter from Danehill Dancer that has won her first 2 races with the minimum of fuss and could prove today that she is something rather special.

Thats about it for my Sunday mix as the remainder of UK racing today looks very average and rather dull , so im gonna get my trading head on today and see if i can shin up a few ££ with some Friv trading..gl and enjoy your day of rest , ttfn x
