CHELTENHAM FESTIVAL - DAY 3 - 2015

Well for me personally Day 2 was an unmitigated disaster....as i made a few pennies on the opening events and then emptied my Betfair account into Laying Dodging Bullets...which obviously went and Won....so i have had to go cap in hand to the Mrs  to get a top up to continue lol...fair to say she wasnt over impressed but also she understands that my Betfair account is akin to a roller coaster ride....up n down , profit n loss....and the only reason im asking for a cash top up is i emptied my account on Mon leaving only what i was prepared to lose this week....whilst the rest of my funds are in transit to my bank i cannot access them and this stops me from making chasey stupid arse decisions which i may have done had i not done this...so its not the end of the world...but i will have to be a bit more conservative in my approach for the next few days and focus on the bigger paying bets like the Place Pot and exotics....

In fact Day of two of Cheltenham this year has been the 2nd poorest in my History in every respect....still awaiting on the run of Stone Hard in the Finale as i type as that could be a game changer but i do have some cover in that as well...we will see. ( RESULT : )

Right so we move into Day 3.....this WILL BE my fucking day....at least i hope so lol....i would like to get my betting boots on but as i type the Mrs is giving me a scowly type look that tells its own story...damn it!!...

                             CHELTENHAM DAY 3

RACE 1

JLT Novices' Chase (Registered As The Golden Miller Novices' Chase) (Grade 1)

WIN - VAUTOUR - 1st @ 2.70
EW - PTIT ZIG -
LONG - COLOUR SQAUDRON -

SUMMARY - This is a funny old race with some group class runners facing Handicappers and a couple of frustrating types but what isnt funny is the Fav VAUTOUR who should win this ( notice ive now downgraded my will win to should win...confidence is battered lol )....This is another off the Willie Mullins conveyor belt of brilliance and has been rather left alone  by the media as they focused on Un De Sceaux , Dauvan and Faugheen and with that you can still get a very sensible 3.20 on this which although not value is very fair and this is def the horse they have to beat, trotted up lto but is prone to making errors so you place your bet with the warning..any mistakes and its game over as he simply wont get the free run around in small fields as before that said he is different class to most of these and is a strong bet.

PTIT ZIG rates a massive danger if his nerves have recovered from his lto fall with the PN stable in red hot form right now it would be folly to rule anything of his out but that aside he arrives here with form if not the scope to play a major role and will be involved in the finish.

COLOUR SQUADRON is a very frustrating beast....tons of ability but a really shitty attitude but at 30/1 with AP steering it has to be worth a nibble EW as this could easily take a place if he is in the mood.

RACE 2

Pertemps Network Final (Listed Handicap Hurdle)

WIN - DAWALAN -
EW - REGAL ENCORE -
LONG - CALL THE COPS - 1st @ 11.0

SUMMARY - 24 Runners....A Handicap....Cheltenham....Soft Ground.....ingredients that spell punting disaster.
DAWALAN is my selection for a punt as this is much better than some of these and has no peers in this race and just needs the race to run kindly.

" There are 16 qualifiers for this throughout the season but only once has a horse who has won one of those gone on to take the final. However, it was difficult not to be impressed by Regal Encore's victory at Exeter and connections appear to have found his best trip. The presence of A P McCoy in the saddle will ensure support. David Pipe runs four and habitual front-runner Bygones Sovereign will ensure a strong pace. He's on a hat-trick but may be too high in the weights now. Subsequent Grand National winner Pineau De Re and Trustan Times were both placed in this last year with On The Bridge sixth. Tim Easterby's charge comes out best of that trio today at the weights today but EDEYMI looks better handicapped. Tony Martin's gelding looks to have been laid out for this after his staying-on fourth behind Dawalan and Run Ructions Run under a claimer at Musselburgh last time. The quicker ground is a huge factor in his favour and he's run well before at The Festival. The Tourard Man is a stout stayer who will enjoy the likely fast gallop. He is weighted to reverse Exeter running with Regal Encore but quicker conditions are a concern. Katkeau has bags of ability but is a weak finisher and the handicapper may have got to Join The Clan. Big Easy should be thereabouts, however, and Call The Cops stormed home over this trip at Doncaster 12 days ago and could go close under his penalty " .

RACE 3

Ryanair Chase (Registered As The Festival Trophy Chase) (Grade 1)

WIN - JOHNS SPIRIT -
EW - HIDDEN CYCLONE -
LONG - THIRD INTENTION ( Don Cossack for the PP only ) - DC 3rd

SUMMARY - I really like this as a punting race as you will find a mix of class , mix of conditions and the runners are themselves just a very mixed bag of abilities.
JOHNS SPIRIT is a massively improved horse and has both class and guts and although rated to the hilt he is back in the right type of graded race , back over his ideal trip on a course he loves with all conditions to suit so i see nothing but a lung bursting effort from this and will be very surprised if he isnt in the frame.
I also like Hidden Cyclone a horse that isnt quite good enough for the top tier but is more than capable of dealing with most of these and is another that shouldnt fear anything else 2nd in the Clarence House and 2nd in last years Ryanair this will make its presence felt and should be included in all slips.
In truth its also hard for me to leave out Don Cossack who is possibly the form choice coming into this and will surely be thereabouts but after the bashing ive had nothing will surprise me lol.

RACE 4

Ladbrokes World Hurdle (Grade 1)

WIN - WHISPER
EW - LIEUTENANT COLONEL -
LONG - JETSON / MONKSLAND -

SUMMARY - For many a year this was my fav race but since the demise of Big Bucks ive not really paid it that much attention and this year i also feel rather disenchanted but it does look a competitive affair with a few nice sorts taking there place and a few with some class and others that have disappointed.
Reve Di Sivola , Sapphie De Rheu and Zarkander are three that seem to continually disappoint one way or another but any of this trio have the latent ability to win but again none can be fully trusted.
At Fishers Cross looks a spent force but the Irish seem to have a very strong hand with the likes of  Dedigout , Monksland , Jetson and Lieutenant Colonel all looking very handy and in truth they also have very little to separate them.
I do however like WHISPER who i am told by the yard comes here with arguablt their best chance of a win this festival and considering the runners they have that is quite a strong statement ( or is it ) and i also understand that BG has also intimated in a variety of interviews that he himself is rather sweet on this ones chances and at around 12/1 is very much on my EW single and acca list and for me is the best bet in the race.

RESULT / NOTES : Well thats me out the PP...never gave Cole Harden a thought...oh well..

RACE 5

Brown Advisory & Merriebelle Stable Plate (Grade 3 Handicap Chase)

WIN - BUYWISE - 4th
EW - HUNTBALL -
LONG - HOLLOW PENNY / CAID DU BERLAIS - 5th & 6th

SUMMARY - A nothing race for me and i have no interest in this other than trying to stay alive in the Place Pot.
HUNT BALL has now fallen far enough to be considered and is back racing in the type of race he should have spent his career in and will make a good fist of this and if the enthusiasm is still there will be in the mix come the final third.
Radjahni Express continues to frustrate along with Caid du Berlais.
BUYWISE however could be sending this prize on a short trip to Wales as this vastly improved sort is not short on class on ability and is imo still a few short pf what he can achieve and i think may be " well in " here and the 10/1 seems a fair if not brilliant price.
Both Hollow Penny and No Buts are entitled to run well and at 40/1 & 30/1 are well worth looking at for some fun.

RACE 6

Fulke Walwyn Kim Muir Challenge Cup Handicap Chase (Amateur Riders)

WIN - CHAMPAGNE JAMES -
EW - MASTERS HILL / BLESS THE WINGS - unp / 2nd @ 35.16
LONG - THE PACKAGE - 1st @ 13.26 ( Straight Forecast £241.73

SUMMARY - Spring Heeled's victory last year was Ireland's first in this in more than 30 years but they'll have high hopes of a quick double with Gold Bullet. Crack amateur Derek O'Connor is on board but he does have his stamina to prove and there are similar concerns surrounding a whole host of his rivals including Garrahalish, Champagne James, Ericht and Heaney. Guess Again has a lengthy absence to overcome and The Nephew and Bless The Wings are also returning from a break while Tap Night seems to take one step forward and two back and could also run out of steam on the final circuit. Jamie Codd rode the winner of the four-miler here on Tuesday and could get a tune of THE PACKAGE, who has been placed at the last two Festivals off higher marks. He's in the veteran stage now but this tends to be a race for the more experienced chasers. Will Biddick is a good booking for Just A Par and he can reverse Exeter running with Masters Hill on 11lb better terms. Paul Nicholls' charge looks a solid each-way selection and the handicapper is starting to relax his grip on Vintage Star, though he's not fared too well here in the past.

Cheltenham Festival - Day 2 - 2015

Well what a fucking day that was....( Day 1 ) , Had a cracking start with a couple of placed runners and swinging along in the Placepot then made an absolute bundle on my Faugheen / New One Dutch ( was very happy here ) also had a Monster treble going on with Un De Sceaux / Faugheen / Annie Power and i was delirious so i piled all my days winnings and a bit more on top backing Annie Power and 2 out i couldnt have been any happier , coming round the final bend she was cantering and had Glens Melody for company but she was hard at it..this was game over...the race was in the bag as Annie lengthened her stride and quickly put upto 4L between her and the chasing few...all she had to do was pop over the last and that was it..job done!!....but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!...she only goes and slides on landing unseating Ruby as they end up a crumpled heap...what the fuck!!....she would have pissed it had she stayed intact...what a fucking downer ;-((....so that set me back no end ( and a lot of others )....just feel sick , disappointed and a tad pissed off in truth....i needed this to give me a free week...now im gonna have to work at it....Onto Day 2 we march.....#Fingersfuckingcrossed #Onetime # Givemesomeluck

Cheltenham Festival - DAY 1 - 2015

Well Well Well Folks ,
Its that time of year again ,  the time of year when the housewives empty the piggy banks and bet colours and names ,  when the once a year brigade descend upon the tabs with their £0.10 ew Lucky 63's and all hell breaks loose between the betting fraternity as we all make a play for the best odds, offers and specials...yes its the once a year mentalist Cheltenham Festival which will be running from Tues till Saturday and is the pinnacle of the racing calendar for many a yard , owner , rider and trainer.

This year looks to be better than the last couple as it appears to be awash with proper talent real superstars and soon to be members of the racing hall of fame.

There will be 1000's of Joe's holding onto Ante Post flutters and many with a few big Acca's to keep them riding thru the week ( myself included ) and i will be providing my obligatory Daily Race Card in a quest to crush the Tote with a couple of mouth watering Place Pot hits....1 good one thru the week will keep me sweet anything else will be a billy bonus , as well as my usual dutches this week i will also be doing ALL my selections in RFC's and a few cheap Tri-Casts where applicable as i have this year in general been hitting quite a few 1st n 2nds with my selections and Saturday alone produced two that paid £63.59 & £20.64 plus we also hit a  Trifecta that paid almost 130/1...so there is def some value to be had...one from 6 can put you in profit..so fingers crossed....But in truth Annie Power and Faugheen will be solely responsible for how my week is dictated to me as the former has an awful lot of my Cheltenham cash on its back.

So without further ado lets crack on with the DAY 1 Cheltenham Card.

RACE 1 :

Sky Bet Supreme Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1)

WIN - JOLLYALLAN -
EW - L'AMI SERGE -
LONG - SEEDLING / SIZING JOHN - unp / 3rd @ 38.41

SPEC PUNT - LAY on Douvan is the Pro Bet , Jollyallan the Win bet is probably just about the best bet with the best " fun bet " being a fap dutch or EW on Seedling and Sizing John.

SUMMARY : So we start the day with the traditional curtain raiser...The SUPREME and its as you would expect a very tough race both for punters and bookies.
However for me this is a straight three way Duel between Jollyallan , L'Ami Serge and DOUVAN but that doesnt mean that there is nothing else as you can back any one of the rags and expect a decent race or place...racing is very much subjective.
Douvan is currently the 3.0 Fav and for me is too short in a race with so much class for a horse that has beat little in truth ( albeit very very easily ) in fact the horse he trounced lto was only rated 136 which is a mile short of what will be required here today and even being generous with that wooden performance if i gave him a prov rating of say 144 he still has at least 8lb to find to win and thats if nothing else improves at the same rate , there is just too much of a grey area to get realistically involved in Douvan and for that reason he is not only left out of the win shield hes left out all together.
JOLLYALLAN however is the real deal already having trounced Sempre Medici then beating Bristol De Mai ( Beaten since ) but was touched off by the 154 rated Garde Le Victoire in a stirring finish lto when it looked the winner only to find GLV fight back and take the spoils but that was and is a very good run and even given the context of this race is up there with the best form on offer and this doesnt have to improve to get involved it only has to run to form and most of the field will have been seen off and at 11/1 has to rank as one of the most sporting of sporting bets for this race.
L'ami Serge has also beaten little , rattled a few timbers and raced against a few W Mullins runners so will have his card well n truly marked and for me i think the hustle n bustle of the big event may rattle him and cause a few erroneous errors to creep in which will prove costly and its another im going to leave alone as this also has one or two question that need answering and the 4/1 is not anywhere near enough to get my juices flowing.
So from my shortlist of 3 i have one and will fill the gaps with outsiders i think could run decent races.
So where do we start with the big outsiders or less fancied runners as so many are much of a muchness?...
Firstly i think SEEDLING @ 23/1 has a solid looking chance of the back of  Hat Trick of Victories over distance like this or slightly further and he stays on very very strong in fact he already looks like a 2m4f horse and the famous Cheltenham Hill will hold no fears as others are feeling the strain up the straight this beast if in with a chance will be full of running and will exploit any weakness shown ( you have to note that the rags all need to find at least 20lb improvement on all known form but its not out of the question ) and at the odds makes an interesting bet.
SIZING JOHN won a really good looking Future Champions race at Punchestown recently scalping some very big names and was a cracking run however he was fucking trounced 12L by Douvan ( not off the bridle ) in a Novice event earlier so has an obvious mountain to climb but.....this is another day , another race on a totally different track and to say the Fav is 2/1 and this is 40/1 is imo a piss take..its way overpriced and its still 9/1 a place on Betfair ( no price on 4 place market as yet ) and looks a good alternative in a fun packed explosive start.
##Hendo News## The yard are very confident on the claims of L'ami Serge but admit that it has to " step up " in order to have a realistic chance of winning , they think it can...but wont be surprised if not good enough for today.

RACE 2 :

Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy Chase (Grade 1)

WIN - UN DE SCEAUX - 1st @ 1.76
EW - JOSSES HILL - 3rd @ 15.21
LONG - SAIL BY THE SEA -

SPEC PUNT - EW on Sail by the Sea looks an excellent punt but the truth is that " if " Un De Sceaux is only half as good as we think he is then this race is already over...time will tell in what will be an amazing race.

SUMMARY : A very interesting Arkle now and we have another red hot hot pot to contend with and its obviously from the powerful Mullins yard in Ireland and its called UN DE SCEAUX which is currently 1.78....one point fucking 8 for a race that looks on paper Nuclear hot!!...wowzers!!....
Having seen and re-seen all his races i have found that A) The opposition has been weak and allowed many a time a " soft " lead , B) They havnt been that strong themselves and last twice his main rivals made a series of errors putting paid to any chance of a race and C) The last race was a poor 3 runner race that he jumped clear from the off and was never pestered at any stage ( must have thought he was out having an afternoon stroll ) now this 11 runner event will pose many a new problem, first of which is the much stronger rivals in a quicker action packed race as i will be shocked if he is allowed an easy lead here , he should be getting harried and bothered over every fence, eyeball the fucker and let him know he is in for a fight and lets test his metal as the fav as glorious as he may be has to be taken on.
For me i think the " VALUE BET " in this is Sail by the Sea ( currently at 60/1 ) from the pipe yard the same yard that had the 33/1 winner last year and an 80/1 3rd the year before but then considering they have been faced with the likes of Simonsig, Sprinter Sacre and Sizing Europe its no wonder...im pretty sure this in form trainer would have had this as an aim for some time as he could have entered it into any number of other events and at the odds is a brilliant fun EW bet.
Vibrato Valtat , Josses Hill and Gods Own make this a brilliant race to watch and should be great fun for the purist, the Fav could prove to be in a different league to these and with the promise of plenty more to fall in front however on this occasion its worth chancing ones arm and taking it on...he may be back next year as the new Sprinter Sacre.

RACE 3 :

Ultima Business Solutions Handicap Chase (Grade 3)

WIN - NED STARK -
EW - BLACK THUNDER -
LONG - BARRAKILLA / CAPE TRIBULATION / MENDIP EXPRESS / GALLANT OSCAR ( 3rd @ 11.47 )

SPEC PUNT -

SUMMARY : Next up is a fucking ridic looking 24 runner Hcap chase.....leave the wallet firmly locked in ones pocket unless your a fucking moron!!.
NED STARK is the stand out for me here getting plenty of weight , loves the trip , loves the conditions and stays all day and although im not happy about the jockey booking Ronald has ridden this last three times including the two wins so will know whats required.
Cape Tribulation is " due " a big run but as i have stated before the only thing guaranteed that has a due date is a pregnant woman and waiting / backing on horses that are due is a costly love affair that rarely pays dividends...however..one day...fuck no no no stop it smith and take a step back ;-())...
Barrakilla , Black Thunder and Mendip Express all lend flavour to a tasty pot.
~SIC~#SL#The Jonjo O'Neill stable has won this three times in the last six years and Jackdaws Castle has two entries this year. Lost Legend looks a better bet than Dursey Sound but may be too high in the weights now. A P McCoy might have struggled to do the weight on Dursey Sound and instead rides Pendra for his retainer. Charlie Longsdon's gelding was third in the novices' handicap at this meeting last year and has only had the one run this season so will be fresher than most. Denis O'Regan has won twice on Ned Stark this season but he's closely matched with all-the-way Newbury winner Gevrey Chambertin on a line through Kaki De La Pree. Monbeg Dude is an out-and-out stayer and so is Mendip Express while Annacotty seems better over shorter, though does like it here. GALLANT OSCAR has had just the six starts over fences but has shown some decent form, winning the Leinster National at Naas around this time last year. He was sent off favourite for the Thystes Chase at Gowran back over the larger obstacles in January and wasn't disgraced. There's a chance he's still on a decent mark so he gets the nod but it would be no surprise to see The Druids Nephew thereabouts off the back of a good run over timber and Lamb Or Cod and According To Trev are others who could figure while Barrakilla won over 3m between the flags.

RACE 4 :

Stan James Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy (Grade 1)

WIN - FAUGHEEN - 1st @ 1.91
EW - THE NEW ONE -
LONG - N/A -

SPEC PUNT - The Pro Bet is a DUTCH on THE NEW ONE & FAUGHEEN which currently pays 1.52 and i think this is outstanding.....i will be lumping every penny i can find into this.

SUMMARY : Next up is a Doozy and possibly the Days biggest race as we get to see 4 monsters battle fuck out of each other...!!..yes this is realistically a 4 runner race with the following ,

1. FAUGHEEN - 1st
2.HURRICANE FLY - 3rd
3. JEZKI -
4. THE NEW ONE -
So there you have it...the 1st , 2nd and 3rd.....but in what fucking order ??..

Hurricane Fly has been there ( and everywhere ) got all the T-Shirts , made all the videos and is definitely the elder statesman but has proven he still has enough in the locker to give the kids a slap however i would say at his best he was still around 8-12LB poorer here at Chelts than almost anywhere else and away from his beloved Ireland he seems to lose a bit of sparkle and as the years catch up and the opposition gets better and better ( best in years this lot by a mile ) he will find it harder and harder to get in front and in truth i think he will be hard pushed to just nab a place as i think he will get outpaced and coming round the bend he will make a short lived charge with the choke fully out but his light will soon be extinguished...sad to say but this is probably his farewell appearance.

Jezki is better suited here to a lot of the tracks he has been on and been beaten on and the uphill finish suits his stamina laden end of race burst and he will be a tougher racing proposition here and will prove very hard to beat however the one big concern i have is that in all 3 races this season he has been very leg weary coming to the last and has had little to offer and he may have shot his bolt with last years race killing him as a proper horse ( something ive seen plenty before ) and i think the stronger finishers will have too much for him and again i think 3rd may be the best he can do ( may even be battling a rag for that spot ).

THE NEW ONE , a horse i just love travels like a dream usually jumps for fun , stays all day and can quicken and battle at the business end of a race....this is in every sense a proper world class animal and he really ought to have won this last year and although his preparation has been a bit low key this year he has been racing on ground he doesn't like but has still remained unbeaten and has nothing to prove all he needs is a slight drying out of the ground and its game on and this for me will be either 1st or 2nd.

And i say 1st or 2nd as he has yet to face a rival like FAUGHEEN who is another that has so far looked just incredible unbeaten and never off the bridle and although this will be by some his toughest task to date the way he has kicked and killed past rivals very much resembles an in form Big Bucks in the way he has treated his rivals with disdain is just earth shakingly shocking this horse looks like a freak of nature and in the modern era only the likes of Big Bucks , Sprinter Sacre ( pre injury ) and Istrabaq have had the same dominance and i think this beast will prove to be every bit as good....oh my days what a battle royale this will be.....the Proven form and ability of The New One V the untapped potential of Faugheen v returning Champion Jezki.....Fucking " BRING IT ON ".

WIN - ANNIE POWER ( NAP OF THE WEEK ) - Fell at the LAST when 3l Clear and cantering....GUTTED!!!!!!!! ;((The dramatic moment when Annie Power fell at the last with the race at her mercy
EW - N/A
LONG - N/A

SPEC PUNT - Mega MAX Bet on ANNIE POWER .

SUMMARY : Now its the 16 runner Mares only Hurdle and i will not go into too much detail on this as i simply will not hear of defeat for ANNIE POWER who on my adjusted ratings has at least 22lb in hand and had she run recently then she would be a 1/3 shot or even less but she hasnt..she got a niggle or two when last seen and hasnt run for around 311 days so her price is now 1.68 which may not seem like much but she will pick this whole field up and carry the bitches all the way to the knackers yard..she will dominate, demoralize and destroy them.

SPEC PUNT - Ballyculla @ 80/1 with Bannister is a sound looking EW punt.

SUMMARY : A bit of a misnomer after the hurly burly that has gone on before , time to get the kettle on or pour a Guinness as we have this non betting heat.
It's interesting that Gordon Elliott runs Cause Of Causes in this as he also had entries in a number of the big handicaps this week. Crack amateur Jamie Codd rides the seven-year-old, who was second in the Kim Muir a year ago. Cogry, who beat Doing Fine at Warwick last month, looks a real stayer and has won two out of three since falling on his chasing bow behind the mare Top Totti at Uttoxeter. He shouldn't be far away with a clear round while last year's Albert Bartlett winner Very Wood bounced back to form at Navan last month when winning a Grade 2. He beat The Job Is Right at Galway in the autumn, though the latter is slightly better off at the weights now. SEGO SUCCESS  got the better of subsequent Sky Bet Chase winner If In Doubt at Wetherby in November and followed up in a Listed contest at Warwick. Trainer Alan King knows what's required to win this race and his charge will get every assistance from the saddle from Gold Cup-winning jockey Sam Waley-Cohen so gets the nod.

RACE 7 :

CHAPS Restaurants Barbados Novices' Handicap Chase (Listed)

WIN -IRISH CAVALIER - 1st @ 14.50
EW - Thomas Crapper - 2nd @ 8.69
LONG - Generous Ransom - 3rd @ 11.50

SPEC PUNT -

SUMMARY : And we round the day off with another Hcap Chase....tough luck punters!!.../hopefully your well up by now?!?!..
Thomas Crapper can race off the same mark as when second in the Martin Pipe over hurdles at this meeting last year. He is still a maiden over fences but has been knocking on the door in decent company and it would be no surprise to see him in the firing-line off the final turn today. Generous Ransom deserves to be among the leading fancies having won novices' handicaps at Sandown and here. But he was only third to Stellar Notion at Kempton in between and is no certainty to confirm course running with IRISH CAVALIER. Rebecca Curtis' charge is 6lb better off for just over two lengths and looks to be improving. He's preferred to stablemate Monkey Kingdom and the disappointing Cocktails At Dawn. Gorsky Island, like Stellar Notion, is trained by Tom George and can't be ignored but Horizontal Speed was easily outpaced by Golden Hoof at Aintree in the autumn and his win at Wetherby hasn't worked out. Leap Dearg has his stamina to prove and Cold March may have too much weight but Gores Island could figure if handling the step up in grade and Little Jon will ensure there is no hanging about ( Sporting Life ).

Saturday @ Sandown

Hi Folks ,

Well its been an interesting week to say the least...spunked plenty of loose coin off  and taken a few hits with some very sloppy plays this week as i looked to bolster my Cheltenham coffers however all i succeeded in doing was lowering them and my expectations as i lurched from one disaster to another...

On the plus side i have been " trialing " the new Cashout feature on the upgraded Betfair site and so far im impressed , its quick , responsive and will usually give you the best available price so its currently a Thumbs Up from me and i urge all Traders , Bettors and Players to give it a go....

Onto the Weekend and as we edge ever nearer to the Cheltenham Festival a lot of horses will be keeping cool in their respective homes however a few will be trying their luck in the Imperial Cup as there is a £100K bonus if the winner of this race can then score in ANY race during the festival which has happened a few times and most notably by the Pipe team so take note of whatever he runs and the rest of the card is pretty decent as well so that is where i shall be heading for my Saturday fix.

RACE 1

WIN - CYCLOP -
EW - ULTIMATE ACT - 1st @ 5.04
LONG - PRINCESS OMBU -

SUMMARY : First race today and its a Juvenile Hurdle which as we know is a good pocket filler for me ;-) and this small field affair suits me fine.
CYCLOP is thoroughly exposed and we know exactly what we are getting with him , not without a wee bit of ability and a sound jumper this 120 rated sort ran a solid race lto running third but beaten by a nice Paul Nicholls runner in Southfield Vic and todays good 2nd Serienshock ( Pipe ) which is equal in terms of form of anything currently on offer however the negative is that is is highly likely he may find one or two that will improve however i also feel that the bookies will factor this into their markets which will result in us getting a better than expected price on a runner that will run to form and its the others that have to improve to win and if you can get 5/1 or better then i would say this is a damn good sporting bet but dont be surprised if it loses lol...

* 3 In the PP as i think this race could provide a boil over.

RACE 2

WIN - AIGLE DE SEE -
EW - AS DE MEE - 1st @ 13.0
LONG - REMILUC / GREAT TRY - Unp / 2nd @ 11.90

SUMMARY : Next up we have the

European Breeders' Fund William Hill National Hunt' Novices' Handicap Hurdle Final (Grade 3)

..And this looks a cracker with a very decent field of 18 taking part and so so many with rock solid chances and many more that a case can be argued.
Remiluc will be getting some from me for no other reason than its a Tom "" Boom Boom " Canon ride and he is my Jock to follow ...My information on AIGLE DE SEE is that this Wins and they quite simply dont have anything else to say although they respect the fact its a tough race with some very tasty sorts included but nonetheless they are insistent that its in a different class and a clear round sees it win..so this will obviously form part of my betting package.
The Pipe runners have to be feared as he will be all out to win this but i prefer the Paul Nicolls pair as bigger dangers and that is where i will rest my PP feet upon.

RACE 3

WIN - MOSSPARK - 2nd @ 3.95
EW - FINANCIAL CLIMATE - 1st @ 6.80
LONG - BALLYHEIGUE BAY - 3rd @ 6.20

SUMMARY : Next up is a pretty standard looking 7 runner Hcap Chase and its a race i fucking abhor....Ballyheigue Bay has won two of his three starts over fences, beating Umberto D'olivate at Kempton, and been placed in the other. He'll need to improve again to take this but is capable of doing so. Kings Apollo is on a hat-trick after wins at Taunton and Wincanton but is another who needs more in this grade. Saroque hasn't really been firing this season but Ziga Boy is useful when the fences don't get in the way and Mosspark has been highly tried so far over the larger obstacles and should find this easier. FINANCIAL CLIMATE's only poor run this season came on bottomless ground over a longer trip. He's gone up 4lb since scoring at Chepstow but has Thomas Garner's claim in his favour again and shouldn't be far away.

WIN - FASCINO RUSTICO -
EW - BIDOUREY -
LONG - CAMPING GROUND - 4th @ 37.64

SUMMARY : This is a Doozy..24 Runners in a Hcap Hurdle and of course its the IMPERIAL CUP...Good Fucking Luck!!...
I have been following FASCINO RUSTICO this season and bar the lto fall it has been excellent and is still improving with experience and is imo a horse to watch and follow and this was disputing the lead and on the move when tipping up 2 out and would have been in the mix lto and for me i think the 20/1 is outstanding if you look at the way it destroyed Zip Top you will see exactly what i mean....this horses gets my juices flowing...a clear round sees this go very close imo.
Elsewhere we have a deepness of riches rarely seen and i could pick any four or five from a hat and expect a good run however its mu job to narrow the field and thats what im going to do.
BIDOUREY
CAMPING GROUND
THISTLECRACK
These are my three against the field to give me a sporting chance in both the PP and the pocket, West Wizard..i have no faith in this at all regardless of what im told by the stable as this smooth travelling and finding fuck all sort continues to frustrate whilst Zip Top has about two tonnes to find just to make midfield so that can fuck off but big EW runs from Ascendant and First Avenue wouldn't surprise me.

WIN - WHISTLE DIXIE -
EW - LIFEBOAT MONA - 3rd @ 10.12
LONG - OUT OF THE MIST -

SUMMARY : Next on the agenda is possibly one of the toughest NHF races you will see outside of Cheltenham/Aintree..this is a crackerjack of a race....just fantastic to see a turnout like this days before the fezzie...
Lets start by thinning out the field so we can remove ALL the four year olds as they wont be winning which leaves 11 runners .
From the remaining 11 i really like WHISTLE DIXIE , LIFEBOAT MONA , COPPER KAY and OUT OF THE MIST and in truth i have no real preference for any , The Hendo runner is an awkward sort that needs to grow more whilst Mullins runner has an absence to overcome and with a few others held on lateral form i think these are the safest plays.

RACE 7

WIN - BABY SHINE -
EW - SAINTS N SINNERS -
LONG - N/A

SUMMARY : And Repeat...but with 7 runners this time...

so i added the pic to enliven the post as i was getting bored...;-)...and to keep my Welsh Friend Steve happy ..haha..Mick Easterby rarely ventures this far south unless he's got a realistic chance of returning home with some prize money so Saints And Sinners, who has won his last three, must go on the short-list despite a career-high mark. Granville Island has been knocking on the door but keeps climbing the weights and Rouge Et Blanc is also struggling to get his head in front. Dare To Endeavour and Anay Turge are nicely treated but have been largely out of sorts lately. BABY SHINE is back over her best trip and is a sound jumper. She usually runs up to her mark and another success over fences is long overdue.
