Its OAKS Day.....

Hi All , its been a few days since my last update but ive been both ill and pre-occupied but i have had to get something done for today as its the Oaks today and the DERBY tmrw... a fascinating weekend of racing begins with some crackers to day and some damn fine evening racing as well. and as you may have guessed the weekend is in honour of the great man himself...Sir HRAC ( RIP ).
............Right so lets crack on with some coverage for the Friday EPSOM card.
RACE 1 > This is quite a puzzle to start the card and the day as we have so many that have shown glittering form then regressed, some that are showing improvement and others offer us promises but none are solid. The weather has been muddling but it would appear that the ground is currently on the good side of soft and we will get a better idea after the first but taking it for granted that the ground is plain " Good " then this is what i shall base my thoughts on.
Last years Winner Thistle Bird looks to repeat the trick but that was his only win last season and has done nothing but regress really and this is a tougher looking field and this i just cant see winning at all. Zurigha is another that offered much and delivered little a very frustrating sort and one that cant be relied upon at all although could prove upto the task if in the mood.
JUST THE JUDGE is a peculiar sort , winner of the Irish Guineas , 2nd in the English Guineas and 3rd in the Coronation Stakes ( beaten again by Sky Lantern ) promised a lot and this good looking , sweet travelling type was bound for bigger things...then its last two runs ..well were too bad to be true and then an opening run in the Earl of Sefton offered little hope of a revival...." if " she can return to the level of form and ability shown in those races  ( placed around the Guineas ) then this has every chance of destroying these....but a lot must be taken on trust and i think thats why your getting a 2 point bonus in the price.
Odeliz , Amulet and Masarah are three very good Handicappers but will not be any more , yes they can race with the best of them they just cant win with the best of them however should the form selections and the class fail to fire on the day then one of these three will mop up.
The one i really quite like here is the only true improver in the field and the only horse with the potential for more and that is MANGO DIVA which at 7.2 offers endless value , ran well lto over a trip that just stretched her stamina and this 1m ( just over ) trip will prove ideal and i dont feel the track will offer any fears , has little to find and any form of natural improvement will see her hard to beat.
1. MANGO DIVA
2. JUST THE JUDGE -3rd @ 6.02
3. THISTLE BIRD - 1st @ 5.03
