York DAY 2 and its DANTE Day.

Afternoon everyone ,
                               Well yesterday went so so...some decent priced placed runners but nothing amazing and come out even on the day so no damage done and if you have a bad day and come out evens i will take that as a win.
Well what does day 2 have in store for us ? well firstly Fahey is still in very good form with all his runners performing with credit  ( winners at Newcastle yesterday ) and O'Meara ...well what can we say but York is fast becoming his own back yard with everything he sends out winning or looking like it can and the Conditionals he uses seem very good as well so anything out of his on day 2 must be respected.
The DANTE is todays big race and this will be a thriller for me as i have very high hopes for ELM PARK and will be ..well not far off distraught if this fails to shine as i had this earmarked for big things since the middle of last season the ground may not be 100% right and he may not be 100% fit but none the less im still expecting a run that he can work from.

YORK on THURSDAY

RACE 1 :
We start the day off with a crazy looking 17 runner 5f Sprint Hcap and if you combine all those letters together it spells " NIGHTMARE "....OH MY DAYS...Ricky , Paula ...ERIC...i need help with this one lol..its a ball buster.
OUT DO has to go on the short list as its a lto winner from the prolific D O'Meara yard however in 25 runs its only ever attempted 5f once and it got burnt alive finishing 9/20 so has a big question mark to answer and although i cant discount it i cant back it either.
JUDGE N JURY has loads of ability and win when he wants the problem is you just never know when he wants it ;-/// , so a bet on this is a solid shout but its a case of hit n hope.
SEE THE SUN is another with ability a plenty but an attitude of disgust and cant be trusted so im gonna take a look at PERFECT PASTURE from Mick Easterby's yard as i find it v interesting that he has Moore booked for the ride so something decent must be expected but this is speculation and its a speculative choice in a race with so many variables and disappointing types its not entirely inconceivable that Tangerine Trees could roll back the years its just one of those races.

RACE 2 :
Next up its the 1m2f Middleton Stakes and this for me will be used solely as a stepping stone into true group class for the very classy BRAGGING a horse very much on the up and the way it won the Dahlia Stakes lto shows us that this is a beast full of class and is one that stays and has a huge heart, In the aforementioned Dahlia Stakes if watched you could have been nothing but impressed in what wasnt a flashy race until the final strides as this was a 9f race run at full throttle with the first 5f covered in a very quick 1m flat ( 1m00s ) a time that many an actual sprinter would be proud of and yet they still carried on although 2f out the field were at it pulling n pushing and it was only ever going to be a case of guts and staying power and keeping that momentum up and Kleo surged from the front but was quickly picked up by Bragging as they come into the final 1f with 4 or 5 in a bunch but within 50 yards it was just Bragging in the lead and Kleo with the rest now faltering and within the final 50 yards Bragging finally started to assert and was actually pulling clear as they crossed the line with Bragging around 2L to the good so in the context of this race it can only be marked up and this is a horse going to the top.
That said she will have to be pin sharp to fend off the likes of Ribbons who is also a horse on the improve and has been racing of late at the top table and has a few more medals to show and is in a form context the one to beat.
Belle D'or is held and the remainder bar two are just not good enough and the two left are Secret Gesture ( one time Oaks Fav ) and Madam Chiang and both of these could be getting better with age and both will play there part in what should be a thrilling race.

RACE 3 :
The DANTE Stakes..The days big race and with 8 runners all with some quality this promises to be a doozy.
This has been won by some great horses in the past and every year sees plenty of future winners hit so whatever happens the runners in this need watching for potential wins.
The first one i must mention is a fav of mine ELM PARK ( Win ) who if as good as i believe will be winning this years Derby as he very much reminds me of another past Derby winner called REFERENCE POINT as both have almost identical racing styles and look similar and have the same build and tempo so if he is nearly as good as the Point then its game on.
I cant however leave out the Barry Hills trained NAFAQA ( EW ) as i have been told by a very good source that the yard thinks this is going to win today and as it entered into the Derby , the King George and the Eclipse they must have high hopes for this and im not surprised by a lack of early race pace in its defeats to date as most progeny by Sir Percy take a while to get the motor warmed up and most are all stayers through n through and at 18/1 im going to have a big dutch ( level stakes ) on these two.

RACE 4 :
Next race is a cooler....an 18 runner 1m Handicap....my o my..good luck with this one!!!
I can only presume that Fort Bastion is the Fav based on the riding/training credentials as York specialists Tudders/O'Meara are involved but from a form perspective ..no way.
3 i like are HOMAGE , MERRY ME & YOUR FIRED in what looks to be a very competitive field.
My own horse runs in this  ( 25% share ) Balducci but i have been told a few things that would leave me to think it needs more than luck to win today but could run into a place and with top 4 or even 5 ( Betfair among others ) and at around 8/1 fap i think i may just have a few squids on this and cross my fingers ( shame i cant make York today ).
From the Sniper :
Just one joint favourite has won this in nine years though the winner is generally well supported. Homage and Alfred Hutchinson are the only course and distance winners in the line-up and the former makes his comeback after winning a tough handicap from 5lb lower here in October. Off Art ran a fine race in the Thirsk Hunt Cup, his first start since the same race last year, so he has to be considered along with Abseil, who lost his way a little after looking potentially useful at this time a year ago. Gabrial had stablemate Loving Spirit behind at Leicester in October but the latter made an encouraging comeback in the Spring Cup at Newbury and could turn the tables. There are plenty of others with chances but the vote goes to the veteran PRINCE OF JOHANNE, who hasn't won for almost two years but ran well last season and has now dropped to his lowest mark since landing the 2011 Cambridgeshire.

RACE 5 :
Now we have the WESTOW Stakes a race over 5f for 3 yr olds and with just the 10 runners this could prove to be a good race for a bet being an optimum size.
ZUHOOR BAYNOONA is from the list of runners i am following from the Fahey yard and this has already won this term when it won fto @ 7/1 so we are nicely in front with this one already however neither myself nor Fahey think this is it as we both expect much better things from this very fast Filly.
Big Powerful and with a long stride and gait this is easily upto Group Class and an easy win in a fast time at quirky Bath would support this and at 11/1 i am all over this EW as i think its a cracking bet in fact im making it my EW NAP.
Tendu , Blue Aegean and Strath Burn promise to make this a very interesting a quickly run race.

RACE 6 :
Maiden time and a typically well contested one for York that is packed with blue blood.
I like ANOTHER TOUCH which was a reasonably expensive purchase for the Fahey stable at £80k and is well forward in his work, i also like ZEBADIAH who is related to a raft of winning sprinters and is sure to know his job and finally BLUE HUMOUR from a yard that likes to ready a good winner at York.

RACE 7 :
Finally we round the day off with a 15 runner 2m Handicap which in truth is not a bad way to round a card off.
COUSIN KHEE will get some action from me because i always back Crowley in the final race of the day ..win or lose..up or down..he always gets some.
But from a more professional stand point i like the look of MAWAQEET from the stable that won this last year a horse that looks to have been trained with this as his sole target for the year and has been carefully laid out and at a fantastic 40/1 i simply have to have a nibble or two EW of course lol.
Moscato is easily the form choice and arrives on the back of an easy win over this 2m trip but at Ascot lto for which there is no Penalty carried as that was an Apprentice race..so an easy winner with no penalty over 2m and trained by master campaigner Prescott...Hmmm well i suppose i should have enough cover on it to hold my stakes in place.

Good Luck everyone on what looks a tough days racing.

York in May and its Musidora Day ;)

Good Morning World ,
                                    Its a beautiful day outside here at the Knavesmire ( York ) with what i would describe as perfect racing ground , the sun is shining and im back in the Arms of my beautiful Tuesday
"Tuesday"
;-) , so all is right in the world.
Got my eye in so to speak yesterday and went thru the Bev card and had a couple of nice bets and hit 3 Winners from 8 races @ 7.17 , 9.0 and 9.48 for a nice profit on the day so im feeling good going into the first day of the York Meeting which holds the Musidora as its principal race and this is a track i just love.
Quirky in some respects as it runs well for a good front runner or one that can sit handy and quicken as its a tough track to come off the pace from and on good or firmer this task becomes even tougher its also a track in which the Northern yards like to do well and often field their more fancied runners and Fahey is a master round here which is double dangerous as he is in red hot form just now but also watch those from the likes of Barron and Easterby plus its also a course where the term or phrase " Horses for Courses " is very apt as many previous CD winners have arrived here woefully out of form and then scooted up so watch out for the perennial York horses.

So lets crack on with York and see what damage we can do.

                                                                       YORK

RACE 1 :
We start the day off with a ridic looking 20 runner Hcap over 1m2f and these tough Hcaps have become a staple in the York diet.This race is also rather surprisingly quite often won by something quite well supported in the market and nothing in the last ten years has won over 8/1 with an average of around 9/2 so i would suggest you just take a look at the top 6 and work down.
CHANCERY has to be high on my list from the to be feared O'Meara Yard and with Tudders doing the steering this CD winner who opened up his campaign this term with a resounding victory on unsuitable ground at Ripon will have everything going for it and at 14/1( expect this to go off a bit shorter ) looks an outstanding EW bet to start the day.
Elsewhere and for PP reasons i think we should also have Tres Coronas as this has a lot of the boxes ticked and arrives with a bit of form entitling him to run a place and i will also keep the faith one last time with Satellite a horse that has won well for me before and was thought group class before faltering over distance that were too far and dont be surprised if we get big runs from Spirit of the Law and Silvery Moon.

RESULT : The 11/4F Wins and im out of the PP after just one race lol...lets hope the day improves!!
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RACE 2 :
Next up is another gargantuan Hcap this time with 17 runners and over 6f so this could end up messy as they could start charging all over like a field full of Fentons.
It is today with heavy heart and great regret that i will finally release my betting grip that i have firmly held upon Hoof It a horse i once thought was going to rule the sprinting world but has continually disappointed after winning the Sky Bet Dash and the Goodwood Stewards Cup this has done just about fuck all and its runs after would lead you to think it was done for and having shown nothing since this is now released into the betting wilderness...along with Valbcheck.
BOGART however comes into this also with some recent form having run a solid 3rd fto this term behind Pipers Note in a 17 runner Bev Hcap however at this moment its hard to see how Bogart can reverse this form as Pipers Note has shown a remarkable consistency and looks 100% genuine so i will have to assume Bogart needed that run and with 5lb of fitness improvement can swing it back his way.
Arctic Feeling , Tatlisu and Mass Rally will all be there at the business end and any with some luck in running could make a play for the winning line but i couldnt back them as they just dont appeal to me and this is more of a heart n gut appraisal rather than a studious professional outlook.
I really like Another Wise Kid but just like at Ripon lto this poor beast has another demon draw and he will struggle from here as i think anything drawn lower than 10 will need to be special to win...
..jeez im running out of options so quick i may have to do some back tracking.
Right my three in no particular order are ,
1. POLYBIUS -
2. BOY IN THE BAR - 2nd @ 12.60
3. BARRACUDA BOY -
Tough Tough race ...Good Luck.
RESULT :
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RACE 3 :
Now we have a Group 2 Sprint the " Clipper Logistics " and this is usually a damn decent race and this years event doesnt look likely to disappoint with some very high class runners involved.
MATTMU ( 2nd @ 17.9 ) may have been let in very lightly by the handicapper having shown hugely progressive form last term and imo still has quite a bit of scope for further and coming from the Easterby stable i would assume this is here to run a big race today and at 25/1 is well worth a second look for the Value Hunters.
MUTHMIR is probably the "class" in the race and will take the beating if ready to do himself justice this is a horse i like very much and is already in my book a solid Group 1  / Class 1 sprinter and will be at the table for all the years big sprints and i think this is just in front of Naddir who is also a very smart sprinter and both of these like to make a play for the victory just as they come into the final 1f and the one thing i would dearly love to have right now is the sectionals from their last three races to compare there final 1f times as i feel this could prove decisive...so if anyone out there has these..send em over.
There are 4 or possibly 5 other real quality sprinters that could also take a hand in the finish including , Musical Comedy , Aetna , Astaire , Justice Day and Jack Dexter ( 3rd @ 23.2 )so nothing can readily be discounted in what should be a fascinating race.

RESULT : 95.6 Crowley ridden winner...LOL...nuff said.
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
RACE 4 :
The days BIG race the MUSIDORA Stakes its a Group 3 ( C1 ) over 1m2f and is for Fillies only and is usually Won by one of the more fancied runners and has proven historically to be kind to Favs.
It has to be said that for a £100k race the turnout of 5 is woeful and does nothing for the good name of racing and to add further caste to this this is imo basically a 2 horse race as i can only see either STAR OF SEVILLE  or  TOGETHER FOREVER winning.
Star of Seville is the Fav and is race fit and a proven distance winner however Together Forever is for me the Winner here as she comes into this with much the better overall form inc a win in the Fillies Mile and being by Galileo i see no way that she doesnt stay the trip ( has been running on strong at the back end of her races to date ) and i think that not only does she have at least 10lb in hand on my current adjusted ratings but will almost certainly race into a low to mid 120 rated runner and will prove too good. ( i have smashed this dutch as its a win/break even dutch with all the winnings on TF and SOS given me a few pence,has to be done its a wallet emptying bet as i can see no other outcome )
RESULT : Star of Seville beats Together Forever by a head and i make an amazing £3.82 Profit ..damn it lol..
                         ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And thats it for today as i have run out of time...hopefully be back for a full card tmrw...Good Luck All.

Looking at Beverley & Warming up for York ;)

Morning Halfwits ;-) ,
                                   LOL sorry only joking well mainly i am unless your called Richard Hurd then your just a plain ol Lucky Half Wit ;-().
Seriously that guy is one of the luckiest pin smashers i have ever come across to a point where he can almost probably make a living thru being lucky and yes a little bit of me is jealous of his " fuck it " syndrome.....Swansea were Dominated last night had not a single effort on goal and were playing a 6 man midfield looking for a Draw so dicky throws some money on at 9/1 the Swans win and then Boom...they score and win...just a lucky spec punt borne from frustration but its a common occurrence with that fuck nut...love him really its just the math punter inside me gets a bit wound up lol...

So its a drab ol Tuesday with not much action , well what i would call action as there is a rake of racing on both day time and early evening however most is of a very low or standard quality and decent betting opportunities are few abound so i will again just have a browse thru the BEVERLEY card to see what i like and if anything stands out.

Race 1 : AMBER CRYSTAL - 2nd @ 2.99
Well its a traditional shit pot seller over 5f with 11 runners and one rated just 25...twenty fucking five...oh my days.
Amber Crystal is the only runner to have shown any worthwhile form and has " officially " 10lb in hand so must be the selection however this race is a fiddlers paradise.

Race 2 : LATHOM - 1st @ 7.17
This is another tricky race for the punter , its a maiden with a few bits of form showered about including some Brocklesby form so its a bit of a guessing game , the Brocklesby form isnt too bad this year so must be respected however its the speedily bred son of Compton Place that gets my vote and this looks the stables first string so is possibly straighter than the other , very vague reasoning in truth but its all you have.

Race 3 : THATCHERITE - 1st @ 9.48
CD winner that arrives on the same weight as the cd win and in form n fit to to do a job however Heroique , Boxing Shadows and Lady Ibrox will all prove tough to beat in what looks a decent race.....for the bookies.

Race 4 : WINDFORPOWER - 3rd @ 11/4 ( Tweety Pie was 3rd @ 25.26 for a nice win)
This is Div 2 of the above Hcap and this Windforpower can run at a higher level than these and looks different gravy in a piss poor contest however Pavers Star and Tweety Pie are very big priced rags that are worth looking at for some Fap action ;-).

Race 5 : BORDER BANDIT - 3rd @ 5.90
Now for another tough to call Handicap ( Good luck anyone at Beverley today , dont know how they draw the punters in with shit like this ) , 1m this time and for the older brigade and Border Bandit gets my tentative EW vote now racing off a good weight and back to a weight he has won before this CD winner ran a good 2nd lto showing there is life in the old dog left and at around 10/1 is worth a second look with Strong Man ( 2nd @ 23.13 ) and Off The Pulse also worthy EW candidates.

Race 6 : MULTI GRAIN / VALE OF IRON ( Dutch NAP ) - Both Unplaced ( Very disappointing runs )
Handicap time again...no im not surprised lol  but this time only 7 runners line up for this 1m1f event but i have two candidates who for me stand out by a mile and this bet at the current odds 4.6 / 5.9 looks rock solid with the remainder of this field looking to have a lot to prove and improve.

Race 7 : KAWAII / DARK RED ( Dutch ) - Unplaced / 2nd @ 3.70 ( Beaten a Head )
Maiden time for those of you that have any money left ;( , the two selections offer for me the best vfm @ 4.3 & 13.0 and a steady level stake dutch is the play for me, gteed some fun and a run.

Race 8 : AVENUE DES CHAMPS - 1st @ 9.0
And its a Handicap to round off today's not so fun n games and over 1m4f with 12 runners this is another bookie bolster as this is as poor a race as you will find...just fucking awful.

Well i think its a given that just about all of todays selections would be Each Way bets but my o my..what an awful days racing....Roll on York tmrw ;-)

A very Average Post ...No Tips only Thoughts...

Afternoon everyone ,
                                  Not a lot to mention although i am now back at home so can hopefully get everything cranked up a couple of notches and with a nice weekends racing coming up it would be nice to get my eye back in thru the week and even tho we have a nice Donny card today it is Windsor tonight that i like and its a place close to my heart.
Today's thoughts are just that, thoughts...these are not pro bets , tips or anything else remotely associated with tipping or advice these are simply horses i like and may get involved with tonight although not romantically as obviously that would be wrong...

So Windsor it is then...

Race 1 : TEARS IN MY EYES - Last - Ran like a complete hound.
I had been told last November to watch and follow any half decent looking or purchased progeny from Libourne Lad and this falls into this category with Ryan Moore booked for the ride since the entry stage and related to some high class USA Graded runners i think this will run very close tonight and the current 5.6 is my EW NAP.

Race 2 : GENRES - 1st @ 5/6 - Pissed up . no worries.
NAP - I simply dont see how this loses?...only ever had the one run which was a damn good fto 2nd effort however it must be pointed out that backing odds on jollies in Maidens is a fast route to the poor house and making it a Nap is a fools errand...however...blah blah blah...its the NAP so fuck you.

Race 3 : SHADOW ROCK - Unplaced - v odd run in snatches and not a horse i want to be invovled with again.
This is tricky as any could realistically win including the Champs Elysee outsider however Quick Defence struggled with Putting Green and that trainer sends out Shadow Rock so you would think he has a good idea as to whether or not his charge is upto the task with the answer being a stern Yes.

Race 4 : LOTD - SHIFTING POWER @ 2.24 - 1st - Won v easy ( Lay was a no bet after the 2 non runners killed the field )
Yes based on last years form he has at least 5lb in hand however he ran only so so on his return and many pundits will say that he probably needed the run but i think thats bollocks.
Watch all his runs in the early and Juvenile days over 7f and he was clearly flat out and not the smoothest traveler in the world and then when bumped upto 1m regardless of the class or type of race after racing prominently for 6f would then then be moving through the gears at until 7f and then quite clearly flat lines and runs on empty on anything over 7f and for me that is his problem...not quick enough for 7f and not good enough to be an elite 1 miler so Hannon has no choice but to chance his arm in these shit pool 1m Class 1 events in the vane hope of picking up further black type and a half decent payday for the owners but then if he meets even a half decent group 3 or group 2 1 miler that truly stays then he is fucked because i don't think Shifting Power is Group Class , never was and never will be and at between Even Money and 6/4 i will lay this all night and day every time it races because i will be the long term winner with this type of bet with this type of horse.
What else can win ?..well in truth its of little consequence as any will do but if you would rather back against it than lay then i would say probably Clon Brulee at around 7/1 although yet to run this term the yards runners rarely lack fitness and always carry scope and this proven 10f winner could easily have many of these struggling to get home if a searching pace is sought but the truth any of these can win on their given day as they all carry similar levels of historic form and this is also quite a strong SL Race with further heightens enthusiasm.

Race 5 : SNAPPY GUEST - 5th ( Hampered when making a significant move unable to get back in groove )
1950 Windsor : SNAPPY GUEST - Fallon won on this last day and he travels all the way to Windsor for this sole ride , it won easy lto and has at least 12lb in hand of the Handicapper so a piddling 5lb raise is of no consequence..will be shocked if it doesnt place and lightly surprised if it doesnt Win..Currently 4.90...EW Gift

Race 6 : FIT THE BILL - 2nd @ 5/1- Good run beaten by a v nice type.
This is around 9/1 which i feel is excellent value , yes it has to race truly on turf but it has absolutely hosed up last twice on the AW both times being heavily eased towards the line and still won one by 8L this is a horse on the up and should be followed cracking EW bet.

Rito arse wipes..back later to update with results , keep smiling , keep the faith and Good Luck.

Roodeye...yes please ;)

Morning Folks ,
                         Here i am again with another Sun filled update as we hit the Chester trail a quirky track that the good doctor loves and used to be the stomping ground of family hills , they quite often hold some big races here and this mini festival is no different as they run out a few trials races plus a few more that are decent in their own right so i think its only right i have a look and will be paying close attention to Norton who if riding here is lethal.

The card for Chester Day 1 starts with a good little 2 yr old race and one in which im sure my Partner in Crime and Best Buddy Jason Coote from HCE will have a good word or two to say about and you should click the link to HCE and have a read as this is his area of expertise however for my avid followers i will try and dissect this race and see if i can do any better.
The Lilly Agnes Stakes is an interesting race as many a moon ago it was a big early season target for some tasty sorts however the years have eroded its placing in the racing hierarchy but its still a nice race to pick up with over £12k for the winner.Favourites have had a torrid time over the last 10 years or so faring very badly however nearly all the winners have been well supported coming from the group of 2ndF - 5th in the betting ( which i call low middle order betting ) so these are the types we need to focus on.
Lovely to see Chester Pro and Savant Franny Norton riding and anything he is on must be respected and in this opening race he is on the 2nd Fav Rah Rah from the MJ yard and this fto winner looked very good when winning over this trip on its debut however the form has taken several knocks since which considerably tempers my enthusiasm so its a no bet on this for me but i wont be surprised if it wins.
We will also need to focus on the lower drawn and more prominently racing types which gives us Fashionable Spirit and Silver Wings with Fashionable Spirit also coming from the MJ yard and Silver Wings being the Fav so that is a No No.
Fashionable Spirit stays on the list tho as a 20/1 EW rag that will surely improve for a very average debut when 2nd at Chelmsford and this son of Invincible Spirit has everything going for him today so is well worth a few sheckles from anyone's ew pocket.
ASTLEY HALL is the one i like for the Win but is also a rock solid EW bet and one for the accas , this big son of Dutch Art won fto in a very good time and although running rather green and having to be shown the whip at the 3f pole plus had to be cajoled with the whip a couple of times coming into the final 1f powered home in a very strong fashion and won with a bit in hand and this will come on the proverbial ton for this run and with Ryan Moore having been booked one would think this is in this to win and the 5.80 looks a very good price to me whilst Three n Me from the wily Turner yard could run a place at a big price.

The 2nd race on this card is the Cheshire Oaks a Listed Filles event over almost 1m4f and with 10 lightly raced sorts this could prove to be a very interesting race indeed with previous winners including Wonder of Wonders , Light Shift and Gertrude Bell showing that this race oftens provides something rather useful with Wonder of Wonders running placed in both the English and Irish Oaks subsequently.
Aiden o'Brien has won this race 3 times in recent years and this year runs Diamondandrubies and this comes here with a very strong chance having been an easy winner on its debut and then getting badly impeded when running placed in a Listed event at Navan and this strong travelling type promises much more but at 3.1 i just cant decide on a bet or not as i had it down at 5/2 so thats a huge negative and after having done my tissue i would be a tosser to now back it so guess i will have to swerve it...although im not happy about it.
For me as a betting proposition i think a big Fap dutch or EW Dutch on Zamoura & What Say You is the order of the day with both around the 10/1 mark this offers endless amounts of value and both will come on massively from their debuts.

The third race on a busy card is the tough 2m2f CHESTER CUP and this is a real stamina sapper yet has attracted a brilliant field of 17 which is on this occasion not bad for the punter as you can easily dutch three runners from the middle order and have a good run and a cracking chance at some coin.
here is a list of the runners i think you should focus on for no reason other than their odds.

And the final race i will cover today is the 5f Sprint and this will also be covered by my compadre E.R.I.C the winning machine and sprint savant.
For me i like the look of COME ON DAVE , CONFESSIONAL and B FIFTY TWO as all have most boxes ticked and come at a price that allows a dutch .

I will try and update later or tmrw with some results but for now its adios amigos....have fun and Good Luck.

Winners n Losers from the weekend..

Morning Everyone and happy Star Wars day ;-),
                                                                             Well that was a busy weekend with the opening couple of Classics that really didn't inspire much and before i post all the results from weekend selections lets take a quick review on the classics.

2000 Guineas was Won by the 4/1F Gleaneagles who ran on the rail side just off the pace and in the pack that imo always has the advantage and it looked like a sprint in truth as they all seemed to just race with the choke out and at the 3f pole they all seemed to be going hell for leather then between 3 and 2f Gleneagles positioned himself to the out of the leading trio and quickened up sufficiently to give himself a 2L lead and with nothing else really capable of following his lead he stayed on very well and with strength to see his rivals off.
Now i am wont denigrate the winner but the time as a core concept was poor and yes i know it was only half a second slower than Frankels but slower than most and Frankel Won as he liked and wasnt pressed in any way and from the last 12 Years only Henrythenavigator and Camelot have run slower times and the fractions for this don't interest me as it was a oddly run race ( is often ) this all said The winner won on merit although i will give a mention to Ivawood who i thought was unlucky not in running but because of his draw and i feel that had this been sat just off or level with Gleneagles then this result may have been different. This wasn't imo a strong renewal and having the likes of Bossy Guest run so close kinda backs that up although a rag can often throw a big run in these blue riband events and i still feel that had the ground been softer and Elm Park had run then it would have won from the front and been untouchable.

In truth im not sure what to really make from this race won in a very average to poor time on perfect racing ground with a perfect draw and a perfect seam into the race i really though he should have shown more domination but that wasn't his way maybe what you can take from it is that he stays very well and the way he was still motoring at the end would suggest to me that he would get the 1m4f trip for the Derby no problem as i feel the slower earlier sections in that race will also play into his hands and i would expect the same tactics..ridden just off the haunches of the leading pack and the 2f from make the field splitting move and at this current stage of the season i see little around that has impressed me enough to suggest he could have an easy season...hopefully over the next few weeks a few clues will present themselves however it is interesting that Gleneagles is best priced 10/1 for the Derby and has just as i type drifted from 18/1 to 20/1 with Betfair...yes 20/1 whilst the still to run Elm Park is just 8/1 across all the boards....and i think this tells its own story and Gleaneagles will have to perform again and at a much better level and with far more superiority before i get involved with the disappointingly rated 116 winner.

Over we go to the 1000 Guineas the equivalent race but for the Fillies this time and this was won by the Wachman Trained and Ryan Moore ridden LEGATISSIMO and wow wow wow did this horse impress me , not only was its time fully 3 seconds quicker than its stronger male rival in the 2000 it was won in such a manner that had me drooling!!, yes we have just seen this years Oaks Winner make no mistake and the 9/2 with William Hill should be smashed off the boards because that is a gift as i already have it as low as 6/4 !!!!!....so for me the Uber value has already presented itself.
The 2nd this day and the Fav Lucida make no mistake is very smart indeed and should stick to competing in all the top 1m races as she will win plenty but once stepped upto 1m2f or 1m4f then the Wachman trained Legatissimo will destroy everything this year she looks to me like the Female Frankel...just incredible and take Lucida out of this race and the field was visibly dismantled ( Lucida did start badly and briefly lost her irons but that would not have had any effect on the race ) .
Legatissimo started well and Ryan had her tucked up towards the rear minding her own business and just lollygagging whilst the field jostled and raced for position and pressure she simply just switched off and cantered through the race and when the hit the opening at the 3f pole Lucida had them all at it striding out beautifully thru the middle carving open a passage of desstruction leaving all of her rivals bewildered expect the marauding Legatissimo who now just entering the 2f was only just starting to get wound up and as they left the field behind and come into the 1f pole the afterburners were lit and she just powered past the fast running Lucida ...it was majestic and this trip i would say would have to be her absolute minimum and i wouldnt preferably want to see her run over it again as she is a dyed in the wool stayer.

Over to the results in general from the weekend which certainly for the EW backers proved to be quite healthy.

1. PERSONA GRATA - NON RUNNER

    EDUCATE - 3RD @ 11/2
    BALTY BOYS - 1ST @ 8/1

2. PEARL SECRET - NON RUNNER

3. PETHERS MOON - UNPLACED ( PPL Win in this )

4. ELM PARK - NON RUNNER

And now Sunday's Selections...

5. WATERSMEET - 4TH @ 14/1 ( Betfair would have paid due to 4 non runners )
    AGENT MURPHY - NON RUNNER
    QUEST FOR MORE - 2ND @ 12/1

6. RIZEENA - UNPLACED
    FINTRY - UNPLACED

7. HUNTSMAN CLOSE - 2ND @ 12/1
    HILLYBILLY BOY - UNPLACED
    SHORE STEP - NON RUNNER

8. TERROR - UNPLACED
    FADHAYIL - UNPLACED

9. ACADEMY HOUSE - 3RD @ 14/1

10. ZANNDA - NAP - 2ND @ 15/8

11. BROTHERLEY COMPANY - EW NAP - 4TH @ 12/1

So there we have it now lets apply a stake of £100 EW on EVERY Runner and see how we would have done!!....

From 19 EW Single we would have made a PROFIT of £147.50
and just for the sake of curiosity if you had done the same spread in EW doubles ( granted this would be odd as you have multiple selections from the same race on many an occasion ) this would have given a PROFIT of £245.75 , EW TREBLES would have given a PROFIT of £9930.80 and EW 4 Folds would have given an amazing £85071.83 ( although rather laughably the stake outlay would have been £775,000 lol..but still a nice return lol....

1000 GUINEAS ~ Sneak Peak ~

Well Good Afternoon Douche Bags ,
                                                            Thanks for the few of you to bother interacting with me thru the day....it does make a difference to my day it keeps me occupied and chipper ;-)...even when discussing the tedium of Median Times with Eric lol....

Well i would usually start by dissecting yesterdays card however that doesn't run until tmrw so we will just cut straight to the thrust and move on with the Sunday card at Newmarket where the highlight will be the 1000 Guineas..the Fillies are out today ;0.

Well we start the day off with an impossible looking Handicap over 1m4f with 17 runners and this is a punters Nightmare.
The choices i make here will be speculative at best as it an almost impossible task and i feel a lot of PP punters will have been burned at the first hurdle.
QUEST FOR MORE is the first of my three against the field as this likable sort run some very solid races last term and looks the type to hold and carry his form forward as has been previously shown , WATERSMEET is the next and tis free ggoing front running and typical of the sort MJ trains could be a few pounds better than his current mark and could be quite well in here and if given an easy enough time up front could lead them a merry dance.
Finally we will have AGENT MURPHY who is a lightly raced sort from a stable i like and comes into this with any amount of improvement left and could be anything really so there you have my three very speculative selections against the field...who knows?./..certainly not me.

Next up is the DAHLIA STAKES for fillies and its over 1m1f which is i find an interesting trip as it can often find a few out.I think RIZEENA is the Class in this event and has shown she carries her form very well , stays the trip and will enjoy the ground conditions so imo will run a big race and i will be very surprised if she doesnt make the frame and a reproduction of her Win in the Coronation stakes puts her in with a big chance of winning.
Im not quite what Bragging has done to deserve to 2nd highest rated in this race as i have it 10lbs below its mark and for me still has a lot of improving to do just to make the others work.
FINTRY however could be very useful and doesnt have to improve much to be up there and with already having some solid form locked away i think this will be bang there and for me is another placer with strong win claims and i feel the remainder are much of a muchness so the Win Dutch on these two looks a very strong bet with even a RFC a strong looking exotic.

The third race of the day is another punting nightmare...a 23 runner sprint hcap...this is where the mighty ERIC machine comes in but for me i think i will use a certain someones new lucky pin.
Realistically tho i have to take three on against the field and for me they are HUNTSMAN CLOSE who i like because .............well it has four legs...,SHORE STEP and HILLYBILLY BOY again the other two are based on not much more than a gut instinct and thats really all i can say ( there is some science involved but im not getting into the science of gut technology ).

The 4th race today is the days big event the 1000 GUINEAS the Fillies Classic and with 13 runners on perfect racing ground this should be a decent race.
Not a great race for favourites and a shock or at least a surprise is not uncommon. Lucida is the market leader in this at around 4/1 but doesnt have the most consistent of profiles having Won the Rockfel and then did little in the Fillies Mile this is for me not a horse to trust and although its not currently worth Laying is best left alone as a betting proposition.
Local Time will have plenty of supporters on the back of a glittering set of runs in Meydan which also included a win in their UAE 1000 Guineas and the 20/1 to me looks too big and has to be worth a few quids ew of anyones money.
Osaila has a nice chance based on her fto win in the Nell Gwynn but statistically the race is of little importance regarding this so i will look to have another ew with another big priced runner and this is TERROR a horse i had been given rave reviews about and had backed it for the Nell Gywnn however it didnt run due to the ground so fingers crossed the reports were good and i can get some place money ;P and finally i will have my idea of the actual winner in FADHAYYIL who at around 10/1 looks a stonking good EW bet and will not have to find much improvement to be at the minimum the equal of the best of these , when it got beat by Lucida it ran very green and with some maturing and strengthening this could easily turn the tables although the same comments can be easily applied to a few.

In the Maiden i have had some goods spoke of ACADEMY HOUSE  , Then we move onto THE PRETTY POLLY STAKES a race that has produced arguably a better winner than the Guineas in many a year and tis years race looks a doozy.
ZANNDA this years jolly looks this bizzo in a race which appears light on real class with only Winters Moon and Teosroyal only the others to have reached a level worthy of winning a race like this and Zannda looks like it could be a good bit better than this lot having shown she stays no problem she can battle will like the ground and has shown so far no quirkiness this could be the real deal...but i guess only time will tell however im making this my NAP for the day.

In the finalei will again be on BROTHERLEY COMPANY as i know Fahey is quite sweet on this and although he is in another Handicap he is thought to be Listed or group 2 class at the minimum and possibly hopes of more and this could go off at a very workable price and becomes my EW NAP.

Have a great weekend folks as te weather is now in the 90's im gonna be spending mine on the beach...Adios ;)
