Chester - DEE STAKES -

MEETING : CHESTER

RACE 1
WIN - CHOSEN CHARACTER - 2nd @ 10.0
EW - WEAPON OF CHOICE -
LONG - CAPTAIN BERTIE - 1st @ 3.61
*

SUMMARY - A very trappy race with all of these mostly inconsistent but most with a good deal of ability when in the mood and a couple here are not far off Group class if really running to form but nothing is assured and any bet has to be taken on trust.
Firstly we must look at the infuriating and enigmatic CAPTAIN BERTIE who has ability and is rarely beaten far and is only 6lb higher than when he last won but simply cannot be trusted.
Gandalak has been in fine form and has been winning well but in lower grade races and against lesser opposition and i feel this will struggle today and is readily overlooked.
Hefner is interesting and could notch a few wins this campaign but is another that will require a drop in grade to start winning.
Es Que Love is a complete puzzle ( nothing new for an MJ runner ) and could easily be upto winning this or running last you just have no idea with his or this.
Weapon of Choice can run well at a big price but for me the winner could be CHOSEN CHARACTER who is in the main largely consistent and is proven in this grade and over the trip and more importantly can race on anything from Firm to Heavy and as the ground has changed with the downpours this could be a major plus along with the first time Visor and this CD winner is due a return to winning ways.

BET ADVICE - £50 EW * This was amended as advised to members when the price drifted * on CHOSEN CHARACTER.

RACE 2

WIN - WILLIE THE WHIPPER -
EW - MAGICIAN** ( Replaced Non-Runner ) - 1st @ 2.74
LONG - GLACIAL AGE -
*

SUMMARY  - The DEE Stakes and rather disappointingly just the 6 runners line up and with barely the width on a gnats cock to separate them this is a tough race to call.
Aiden O'Brien has won this race 3 times in the last 8 years and today saddles MAGICIAN with Ryan Moore taking one of two OB rides before getting in his Helicopter and flying down to Ascot for a good looking book of rides and this Tabor owned inmate and son of Galileo will have plenty of support now the rain has helped soften the ground up as this really needs a bit of cut or more and the softer it gets the better its chances.
Glacial Age is the rank outsider @ 30.0 but is far from the outsider on form as this has arguably some of the best form on actually and its run by the rapidly progressing Queensberry Rules gives it every chance and is worth a nibble for the more speculative punter.
I'm not convinced Contributor will be good enough to land this and i feel its current mark of 99 is a tad high.
Willie the Whipper , Gabrials Kaka and Holy Warrior are all closely matched and can easily improve enough to win in a intriguing race.

BET ADVICE - NONE ( PPL RACE )

RACE 4

WIN - BISPHAM GREEN - 2nd @ 6.01
EW -ALL ABLAZE -
LONG - ALMANACK -
*

SUMMARY - Much tougher race now with a 10 runner class 2 5f Sprint and there is nothing between the top 6 so getting the winner here is tricky.
Storm Moon Won in an impressive time lto but that was again on the AW and has yet to really prove himself on the turf and is overlooked.
BISPHAM GREEN however has shown himself on the surface and the ground conditions and although narrowly beaten lto by Mayfield Girl by a Head that was in a very quick time and this will take some beating today with conditions all right , Draw , Ground , Trip , Form , Stable..the lot, all boxes ticked.....i like this today.
Nearly all the Qatar runners are pretty decent and even tho from a variety of stables most if not all are performing with credit and another nice run is due from this Normal Equilibrium.
But i am expecting the biggest challenge to come from Ireland in the shape of ALMANACK and ALL ABLAZE who could both be a bit better than this grade and will be involved in the finish.

BET ADVICE - £100 EW on BISPHAM GREEN
