Anyway..Racing..well yesterday was another truly Epic day for me with a Double super max Double with Chatterbox / Silviniaco Conti , this was topped up winning doubles on Greywell Boy / Oscar Rock & My Tent or Yours / Unioniste and i was also very unlucky not to scoooop huge after banging on a rather large EW Trixie with me mate Hudson-Wood's 2 runners ( Both 1st ) and Hamoody ( 2nd , just done at line ) but still a deece profit and obviously a few other bits n pieces along the way ...but i did have one big loss when i max laid Barrakilla and didnt trade my position ( 1st @ 15/8 ) so i shovelled a bit back there but hey ho , cant win all the time ;).
Onto today..well for starters Naas has been caped due to the shitty weather ( waterlogged ) , Exeter is doubtful ( 1pm inspection ) and then there is Southwell...the wankiest track in the land ( imo )...if thats all there is i may well just enjoy a duvet day ( still a little pissed tbh ) ...but we will see....
If Exeter does survive and racing goes ahead then this is my brief view of the days events and some of the bets i will be wanting to place...
EXETER
RACE 1 : MANY CLOUDS - 1st @ 3.40
A nice trappy Juvenile Hurdle to get the card a rolling and it looks based on the market strength a 2 horse race although i personally feel its a bit more open that , 2m3f on Heavy going at Exeter takes some getting and the first Horse i want to mention is Mount Gunnery now this is currently a rather large 65.0 ( will probs go higher ) but is from a trainer that is small and quiet but he knows how to train , it is beautifully bred by Kayf Tara and has some decent enough ptp form last time out over the std 3m on Heavy going this was tanking along and made a move for the leaders at 2f out and only weakened / not quicken in the final 1f suggesting and showing a good cruising speed, a liking for the ground , obvious ability and it has the added bonus of having the mercurial Aidan Coleman riding so will be getting some bfsp EW pennies from me , dont get me wrong here i in no way expect this to win , i just feel at the expected price it is worth a few sheckles " just in case " and has a positive chance of snatching a place as it will be running on at the end beating tiring horses.
What will win , well form wise i feel MANY CLOUDS is the selection with its run over 2m ( 2nd ) behind Gevery Chambertain the best on offer ( has run well over 2m4f so stays well ) , likes the ground and the yard is in fine form so this does tick all my boxes and is worth a deece bet.
Kilmurvy looks to have some more improvement in him but this may be a bit tasty for him and Just a Par is another " talking horse " and ex ptp runner from the powerful Nicholls yard but these quite often flatter to deceive and you cannot discount the chances of either Stage King or Midnight Prayer.
On the balance of form and the opposition i feel a LAY on Just a Par ( 2.34 ) is probably the safest option but Many Clouds is equally a good win bet and should be included in todays doubles n trebles , and i will have a couple of nice EW bets on the big roughies ( in EW dubs as well ) just in case i get lucky and then i have the possibility of hitting big..
RACE 2 : MELODIC RENDEZVOUS - 1ST @ 2.50
Small field but quality Listed Hcap Hurdle with two very smart runners in Puffin Billy & Melodic Rendezvous , can anything beat either of these?..quite simply...no fucking chance whatsoever unless a sniper sat on a grassy knoll takes them both out with a cleverly disguised double head shot!!...so who will win..??
Well Puffin Billy sauntered home in the Grade 2 Kennel Gate hurdle over 2m and looks a big impressive sort with any amount of improvement to come but thats the thing for me this is a horse that is 1.61 fav yet has to improve to win where as MELODIC RENDEZVOUS already has rock solid form in the book take a look at its last three runs,
1. Only just beaten by ( bumped at the last ) the very impressive and smart Mr Mole over 2m1f.
2. Easily beat Royal Boy and the highly regarded Eduard ( won twice since ) again over 2m1f in Heavy ground.
3.Easily beat again Royal Boy ( further, showing improvement ) and a good yardstick in Court Minstrel ( disappointing this term imo ) Poet ( thought to be a bit special , but flatters to deceive ) and recent easy winner Golden Hoof ( joint fav fell making this an easier task ).
Now these three runs represent some rock solid form and this also has imo a fair bit of improvement to come and i think at the odds this has to be the play , yes Puffin Billy may well improve past and could win but your taking 1.61 on what it may do rather than on what it has actually done....MR all the way for me please ;).
And thats all i have time for today as i now go and sort my members out and get PTS posted...have a great day folks what ever your doing ;-) ttfn x
